Our 30-Hour Comprehensive Driver Education Course is a Massachusetts RMV-approved classroom program that covers all state-required topics and advanced driver education. It meets the RMV’s teen classroom requirement and provides a complete theoretical foundation for new drivers. Students finish with a deep understanding of driving theory, safety, and legal responsibilities, getting them ready for the road ahead.
This classroom-only course fulfills Massachusetts’s 30-hour classroom requirement. Driving hours can be added at any time.

What’s Included
All sessions are taught in person at our licensed locations by RMV-approved instructors. The course focuses on real-world driving knowledge, safety awareness, and decision-making skills that help students become confident, responsible drivers.
All scheduling and progress tracking are managed online through your Student Portal.
Classroom Sessions
This program includes fifteen 2-hour sessions, plus one 2-hour Parent/Guardian Class. Classes 1–15 can be taken in any order, at any time. Class 17—the final exam—cannot be taken until all other class requirements have been fulfilled. The Parent Class is required for guardians of new teen drivers who have not already taken the course in the past 5 years.
Class sessions are available in weekday, weekend, and accelerated school break formats, with new sessions starting daily. You can take classes in any order and build a schedule that works for you.
Weekday Courses
- 5 PM–9:15 PM, Monday through Thursday, for two consecutive weeks
Weekend Courses
- 9:00 AM–3:30 PM for 5 consecutive Saturdays
School Vacation or Summer Accelerated Courses
- 1-week sessions
- Days and times vary depending on the holiday—often 6 hours per day for 5 days
- Thanksgiving, Christmas, February, April, and weekly through the Summer
Students can enroll anytime, but must be 15 years and 9 months old to begin classes. No learner’s permit is required—this course helps new drivers prepare for the written permit test and start their Driver’s Ed journey with confidence.
Massachusetts has different requirements for getting a driver’s license depending on the student’s age.
Teens (16½–17)
- Be at least 16½ on test day
- Hold a learner’s permit for at least 6 months
- Complete a driver education program, including:
- 30 hours of classroom instruction, plus a 2-hour Parent Class
- 12 hours behind-the-wheel driving instruction
- 6 hours in-car observation
- Complete 40 hours of supervised driving with a parent/guardian
- Earn RMV Driver Education Certificate
Adults (18+)
- No waiting period required—you can test at any time after getting a learner’s permit
- Completing a driver education program is not required, but strongly recommended
- We recommend at least 40 hours of supervised driving practice before testing to ensure road readiness
The Massachusetts RMV requires a Driver Education Certificate before scheduling a Road Test for students under 18. This course is not eligible for a Driver Education Certificate unless it is paired with 12 hours of driving lessons and 6 hours of observation.
