The Next Street driving lessons are 2-hour appointments where the student is in the driver’s seat and a highly trained instructor is in the passenger seat. The lessons are all done in one of our dual-controlled cars. Driving lessons are customized to meet the individual student’s skill and comfort level. Skills covered may include parking maneuvers, highway driving, city driving, defensive driving techniques, road scanning, or whatever specific skill The Next Street driving instructor or the student feels they need more work on. We will challenge the students’ abilities so that they are comfortable and confident when they get behind the wheel on their own. Driving lessons can be scheduled at any of our locations.
Our one-on-one driving lessons are designed to meet you where you are — whether you’re a brand-new driver, returning after time away, or preparing for your road test. Each lesson is taught in-car by a licensed Massachusetts instructor focused on helping you drive safely and confidently.
We offer driving lessons at over 20 locations across Massachusetts, including Chicopee, Natick, West Springfield, Northampton, Longmeadow, Amherst, Worcester, Greenfield and more.

- Lessons are 2-hour sessions with the student driving and an expert instructor in a dual-controlled training car.

Private, one on one driving lessons
- Use our familiar, easy-to-control training car, guaranteed to pass the RMV inspection.
- Meet your Licensed Instructor directly at the nearest RMV.
- Fulfill your official Sponsorship requirement.
- Receive support team assistance with paperwork and scheduling.
- Add this service during enrollment or via the student portal, then call us with your booked RMV details to confirm availability.
- $119 + RMV Fees
- The RMV will come to one of our locations and test you
- You will use our vehicle to test in
- We will fulfill the RMV Sponsorship requirement
- The test will be 10-15 minutes however we are at the whim of the RMV and their agent.
Driving lessons can be bundled with our classroom product for discounted rates or purchased individually. We recommend 12 hours of driving lessons for most new drivers, however students master driving skills at varying rates. Additional lessons can be purchased at any time.
Lessons can be purchased in any quantity from 2 hours to 40 hours of time, with price discounts available depending on how many hours you purchase. In order to get the most out of our time together, all lessons are completed in 2-hour blocks.
Bring your physical permit/license, required glasses or contacts, and closed-toe and closed-heel shoes. Missing required items results in full lesson forfeiture, with no credit or refund. See our driving lesson policies. Parent class must be completed prior to scheduling lessons.

Understanding Massachusetts’ Driving Lesson Requirements
The Massachusetts RMV requires new teen drivers (16 and 17 years old) to record 40 hours of time driving practice with a trainer. This time can be done with any person over 20 years old that has held their license in the US for at least 1 year with no suspensions as your trainer.
Any time done with The Next Street counts towards the 40 hours. As an example, if you register for the Full Driver Education Course that comes with 12 hours of driving lessons and 6 hours of observation lessons, 28 hours would have to be completed on your own time for a total of 40 hours. Adult students (18 and older) do not have a practice requirement, though we still recommend an adult log at least 40 hours of practice before going it alone.
