What requirements are there to get a driver's license in Massachusetts?
There are several requirements you have to clear before you can test for a driver’s license in MA. Here’s what you’ll need.
- You must pass your permit exam and obtain your learner’s permit.
- You must then complete a driver’s education course if you are under 18 years old. It should include 30 hours of classroom instruction, 12 hours of behind-the-wheel training, and 6 hours of in-car observations.
- You also need to complete 40 hours of supervised driving (or just 30 if you completed a driver education program, if you are under 18. Individuals over 18 require 40 hours, but no need for driver’s education).
- You must keep your driving record clean for 6 months after getting your permit before you can test for the license.

Do you offer online courses for your Massachusetts driving lessons?
Unfortunately, The Next Street cannot provide online courses for our driving school in Massachusetts as the state’s RMV requires that all driver’s education classes be in-person only.
