When will DMVs be reopening Road Tests?
The DMV is officially reopen for tests. They are adding more availability at more locations each week. If you are testing at the DMV, keep checking back to potentially find a sooner date.
Are the driving lessons still going to be 2 hours at a time?
Yes, we will still be doing driving lessons in 2hr intervals. All students and instructors must wear a mask for their lesson.
When will I get my e-DEC Certificate?
UPDATE: Any paper CS1’s issued after 7/26/2021 will no longer be accepted by the DMV.
Starting 7/19/2021, Electronic Driver Education Certificates will automatically be emailed to students via email address on file (check your spam folder if you haven't received it) upon completion of their purchased lessons, classes, completed signatures and quizzes for classes taken on zoom. Students must print the e-DEC and bring it with them to their road test at the DMV. Average turnaround time is 5-7 days from when they complete all requirements to issue the e-DEC. If the student is testing with us, there is no need to print the certificate, they will get their emailed certificate by the day of their test.
If you need your certificate rushed, or if you would like a certificate for what you have completed so far, please fill out this form.
I missed a class; how do I reschedule?
You can reschedule a makeup class by logging in to your student portal. Click on My Schedule and click on the Edit Pencil in the class block you want to change. We are offering Zoom Classes until December 31st, therefore the location of the class does not matter.
My email won't let me sign in. It says it’s not valid.
Students cannot sign in with their email address, you must use the unique username that is emailed to you. However, if you forgot your UN/PW, simply click forgot Username and one can be emailed to you.
How do I access my schedule?
You can see your schedule 24 hours a day/7 days a week by logging into your student portal, clicking on ‘My Schedule.’
Am I, the parent supposed to sign the signature box or my student?
For students under 18, Parents should sign the signature box after. Students over 18 can sign the box themselves.
Does my child need to be 16 to attend? Do they need their permit to attend?
Students may start classes at the age of 16 with no permit, in fact we recommend they take a few classes before getting their permit. You can enroll into a class that starts on or before their 16th Birthday.
Why is it necessary to do the quizzes after every session now, if they are doing it through Zoom?
The current Zoom Class is something just approved during the Covid-19 shutdown and the DMV requires adequate proof verifying a student’s attendance. We added a quiz to show the student’s knowledge of the classroom time they completed.
If I get a test date at the DMV sooner than with you, can I test with them and get a refund from you?
Absolutely! If you are able to get a test date with the DMV, let us know and we can get your certificate in the mail ASAP, and refund you for your unused test. For students under 18, Parents should sign the signature box after. Students over 18 can sign the box themselves.
I'm eligible to take the test, but I still have driving lessons to complete. What can I do?
You have several options. 1. You can finish up your driving lessons with what we have available. Then take your test. 2. You can test as soon as you get a test date at DMV or with us, and take the lessons later if you are eligible for the Full Course certificate. 3. You can forfeit the lessons, and we can issue a refund for the value of the unused lessons.
*Note: if you are testing with The Next Street you need to complete at least 2hrs behind the wheel with us prior to your test. For students under 18, Parents should sign the signature box after. Students over 18 can sign the box themselves.
I passed my test! How do I get my license?
There have been some changes to this procedure since the resumption of license testing. You will need to bring a check made out to the DMV for $84, which is the cost of the new license. Parents of students under 18 or students over 18 will need to fill out an application to have your license mailed to you. The DMV will mail you your license 7-10 business days after you pass your test. For students under 18, Parents should sign the signature box after. Students over 18 can sign the box themselves.
You will be issued a temporary license on test day so that you can begin driving immediately.
I passed my test! Can I drive alone while I wait for my license to arrive in the mail?
You may. You will be issued a temporary license on test day and can begin driving alone immediately after you pass. Congratulations!
There is no longer a need to go to the DMV Branch after testing with us.
